Hardtop owners know how difficult it is to get screens for the Vanagon. Yes, you can purchase screens for the front windows, but it’s a hassle to install every time you might want to use them. We found this new take on using vents as screens. It looked cool at first, but when we tried it we found we didn’t get enough air flow in the van. We even reversed the vents so the air would theoretically flow in, but we had little success. Here is another take from James Tu. The only problem here is James is in Taiwan and his website is in Chinese. So, have a look at the pics and maybe you can figure out how he did it.

Here is a hack that was sent in by its creator. He had a storage unit up top and didn’t want to spend the amount it would have cost for a ladder. Isn’t that usually the motivation for our hacks? He created a nice ladder of his own. He bought the materials and welded it together. The ladder is removable and there are no visible holes in the van.

This looks like a stock panel van but it has a couple of custom pieces. Instead of running boards, this guy installed custom pipes on the side of his van. What do you call them? Custom running pipes? He also has a nice front bumper guard.

I think we have seen this stretch Vanagon before, but this is a new pic from a different angle. The paint job looks the same, but they’ve added some custom wheels. This extended Vanagon has two sliding doors and lots of room. Making these extended stretch Vanagons is becoming a popular thing to do.

This T25 Transporter is incredibly low. The rustic look is awesome on this low rider even though it has a missing grill. If you want to see a bunch of very low VW’s, check out Slam Sanctuary. This is the only Vanagon I found, but the site is awesome!

You can add a nice touch to your Vanagon by adding a rooftop rear spoiler. We have seen various kinds of Vanagon spoilers before, but this is the first time I’ve run across one for sale. Here is a nice little hack made from PVC. You can hang a lantern or other light outside the van for those camping dinners. The picture is pretty self explanatory.

I just love these accessories for Vanagons. This van was for sale recently, and it features several GoWesty upgrades. The upgrade that caught my eye sits on the rear bumper. It’s a swing away arm tray and ladder. How else are you supposed to get up to that sky box? You can place a box on the tray for extra storage. Several retails sell these boxes, but check out GoWesty.com (here, and here). You can’t go wrong.

Is it a rear spoiler or a transport rack? This Syncro Doka has lots of extras, including what looks like a spoiler on the rear bed with brake lights. This Syncro has a roof rack built into a full set of roll bars. It even includes a side ladder. She can do a lot of off roading and be assured the passengers are protected. Awesome!
