This Vanagon is apparently named “Westly” and was put together by a guy named Alex. Like many of us, he bought a Vanagon, started hacking around, and turned it into something. He actually put an ad on Craigslist looking for a cabinet guy. Some guy named Paul replied, and the rest is history. Click through to see more pics of this awesome custom Vanagon interior.
This 1990 Vanagon Syncro was for sale recently for a mere $14,850. If you have the money, this thing is ready to roll. The interior is custom and the upholstery has been redone. She has a steel roof top and a shower. There is a floor cabinet in the front and the rear table has been moved and mounted in front of the bench. She has a reinforced chassis, three locking differentials, and larger brakes. Click through for more.
Don’t you just love the stories we see of people who just jump in a Vanagon and go? Here is another adventurous Vanagon owner. A guy named Dave has a Vanagon and a Blog. He started traveling towards Mexico with no idea where he would end up. He has some fantastic photos on his blog, but of course, we’re more interested in his ride. You can see one of his camp sites above, but click through to check out the inside of his Vanagon.
This 1980 Safari Zebra themed Vanagon was recently for sale. It looks like the owner had some engine issues that he couldn’t sort out. We have seen other Safari/Zebra Vanagons but this one has an interior to match. Click through to see more pics.
This magnetic dashboard organizer for the Vanagon looks interesting. You can place it on the dashboard under the radio, or somewhere else in the back of the van. I came across it by accident on Etsy. Head over there and check it out. It’s only $60 and the reviews look pretty good.
Many Vanagons have ladders. Ladders add functionality and character to the Vanagon. Sometimes ladders are mounted on the back hatch, and other times they are mounted on the side. Sometimes they have additional equipment mounted to it, other times it remains empty. What is your preferred ladder placement? Click through for a few examples.
This custom Doka Syncro Camper has a lot going on. Check out the steel roof rack with some kind of heavy duty box on the top. The camper is equip with fold out steps for easy access. I would love to see the interior of this camper. She looks like she’s ready for just about any adventure you can throw at her.
There is not much to say about this truck I found on The Samba. The rear rack is awesome. The owner must be a steel worker or something because it looks homemade. I’d love to buy this truck!
If you have a Vanagon Westy you can stop wasting the space over your sink with this hack. Put a cutting board over the sink. Amazon sells the perfect cutting board with a cutout for the faucet. All you have to do is notch a small cutout for the stove grill. This hack comes from Samba member Timwhy. Click through for another idea.
