This hack comes courtesy of Chad DeRosa. Chad lives in his 1991 Vanagon Westy (by choice) and has come up with several hacks that we like. Because Chad lives in Washington, he has to battle the cold winters in his Vanagon. In order to survive the winter months, Chad needed a heating solution. He selected the Mr. Heater Big Buddy propane space heater. The Big Buddy runs on 1-lb propane cans, but Chad decided to hard wire his heater into his Westy’s propane tank. Hit the jump to see how he did it.
File this one under crazy paint jobs. The base color of the van looks like a candy apple red, and there appears to be a logo for the singing duo, “The Carpenters,” on the front door. The rest of the van is just nuts. It has lots of character though, and I love the roof rack. The VW hub caps and white wall tires really round this one out.
This red panel van has a few extras that make her special. The most obvious addition to this van is the rear ladder and roof rack. She’s ready to carry all of your gear. She also has semi truck side view mirror, custom wheels and tires, a rear spare tire rack, and smoke rear light lenses. Very cool!
What can you say about this gun metal gray van? She’s a beauty! This high top has been dropped and received a new coat of paint. The interior drapes match the orange highlights on the exterior of the van.
This little diddy was for sale on eBay. It will set you back about $30, but that’s a small price to pay for the Vanagon fanatic. Merry Christmas everyone!
Everyone must bow to this gorgeous baby blue two tone high top. This van appears to be completely restored with a gorgeous new paint job. The wheels look similar to the popular Porsche wheels, and she appears ready for a weekend of camping.
Is this another junk yard dog? This van has a lot going on doesn’t it? The front guard looks like it’s wrapped in foam. She’s got mounted driving lights and a lot of gear riding on the roof. This is definitely a hippy van!
This single cab VW truck has so much character, and the best part is, it’s sitting at Nico’s restaurant in Honolulu, HI. Isn’t it amazing what a nice set of wheels will do to an aging VW? Even with a yellow door and some rust starting on the back gate, this one still looks great! Check out VolkswagenT25.com for more.
