This looks like a stock panel van but it has a couple of custom pieces. Instead of running boards, this guy installed custom pipes on the side of his van. What do you call them? Custom running pipes? He also has a nice front bumper guard.
This VW Transporter has apparently gone through a conversion to an electric vehicle by EV4U Custom Conversions. I can’t get much more information because these guys have the most ridiculously moronic websites I’ve ever seen. However, I love the sliding storage on this van. They use it to hold 38 battery cells. This 1989 Transporter was recently for sale. I sure wish we had photos of the interior because this van had a lot of custom work done. If you look closely, you can see a very nice upholstery job on the front seats. You can also look a bit further to see a custom cabinet with sink in the rear. The for sale listing says, “Large U-shaped ‘speed boat style’ white leatherette seating area with table. This easily converts to a massive 6ft X 5.6 ft double bed that could actually sleep 4! High quality 10cm thick very comfortable foam. Bed/seat also reclines to different gradients great for watching T.V or reading.”
I love the white wheels that match the upholstery and the custom paint. Nice job!
This is easily my favorite vanagon by far. I saw picture of this thing years ago and I knew instantly it was the nicest Vanagon I had ever seen. I have a Mercedes sedan that would match this perfectly. I love the paint and the custom wheels. The side view mirrors and leather interior add such a nice touch. I came across this video and just had to post it. Click through to see the video. Enjoy!
This little hack is one that most Westy owners will appreciate. It comes from a Westy owner named Dan who keeps a list of his own mods and hacks. He created his own upper bunk step to get himself up to the top bunk. He took some square tubing and ground it down to fit in a round hole. Add a little carpet and gray paint, and you’ve got yourself a custom step. Not bad.
This Vanagon is owned by a guy named Jeff from Oregon. He sent us these pictures of his Vanagon and it is definitely unique. For starters, it has wooden bumpers. That’s definitely the first time I’ve seen wooden bumpers on a Vanagon. It also has a green roof rack that was permanently bolted to the roof. I haven’t even mentioned the scenic paint job yet. His air cooled Vanagon is his daily driver and he says he’s fixing her up piece by piece. My suggestion is just throw some Go Westy 16″ wheels on it and call it a day! Click through for more pics.
This is a picture of a TDI conversion, but I haven’t seen a website that details exactly what it is. What caught my eye was the carpet around the engine compartment. I need to dump that stock mat and carpet that entire area. It looks great!
I can’t believe I haven’t seen these before. This Vanagon is outfitted with a 3 piece dash pad cover that makes your dash look like it is covered in leather. TMI also sells steering wheel covers and door panels. Click through to see another pic.
